Eco Art International debuts in Singapore with the Una Energy & Farjam Collection 2010 Eco Art Parade of Jewellery exhibition.
It was brought to ION Orchard by The Canary Diamond and M.C.L by Matthew Campbell Laurenza.
Created in Monaco in 2008, Eco Art International fuses passion and preservation, creating a sustainable art project to safeguard the world’s winged heritage.
The Eco Art Parade of Jewellery 2010 comes under the patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert ll of Monaco and His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan.
It is sponsored by the Farjam Collection (of Dubai) and by Una Energy (UnaOil of the UAE & Monte Carlo).
It is a fundraising initiative that supports the following foundations: The Foundation Prince Albert ll of Monaco (His Serene Highness Prince Albert ll of Monaco is President), BirdLife International (Japanese Imperial Princess Hisako Takamada is the Honorary President), The Una Energy Children’s Fund (Mademoiselle Charlene Wittstock is the Honorary President) and The Hafiz Foundation.
This year's birds are the Asiatic Hornbill and the Saker Falcon of the United Arab Emirates.
“The two emblematic birds, the theme of this exhibition, will be an inspiration for international jewellers… and the profits from this auction will benefit several foundations dedicated to the protection of our environment,” says His Serene Highness Prince Albert ll of Monaco.
This one-of-a-kind 35 piece collection has been created by top designers including M.C.L by Matthew Campbell Laurenza, Kenzo, Horus, Pomellato, Yanni Melas, Khoulod Osama Kurdi, David Shilling and Poonam Soni.
The exhibition is on display to the public at level one ION Orchard for two weeks from August 28, 2010.
The main criteria for the designers were that "they wanted to do it and put their hearts into their creations", as stated by Eco Art International co-founder, Angela Van Wright.
All the pieces are made of semi-precious and precious stones.
The artists were asked to use materials that are biodegradeable and environmentally-friendly when making the pieces.
Singapore is also the first city to host this exhibit after the launch in Monaco in July, 2010.
Ending its tour in Abu Dhabi on November 13, the exquisite collection will be auctioned by Sotheby’s Senior European Director, Lord Mark Poltimore, at the Yas Hotel on Yas Island Marina.
In 2009, fifty-five sculptures of Bonelli eagles captured the attention of Monaco’s residents and thousands of tourists for four months straight, setting the stage for the Sotheby’s finale auction that pulled in US$1 million ($1.4 million).
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan wrote, “We have the responsibility, indeed the duty, to be worthy custodians of the natural resources entrusted to us and we must continue to find ways to protect our natural environment.”

Next year's bird will be the North America Louisiana pelican with the creations made on canvas.
