VIPs at solo art exhibition

One of the brightest talents in the art scene today, Chinese-Canadian contemporary artist, Zhou Su Yin (周苏音), presented her solo exhibition of water colour and calligraphy entitled Sound Of Ink (水墨之音) for the first time in Singapore at The Arts House.

Known for her distinctive style that embraces the spirit of Eastern philosophy and Western culture, the talented 24-year-old artist showcased her signature Chinese calligraphy works, Chinese watercolour, as well as ink-and-wash paintings (水墨画).

A graduate with a B.A. in Visual Arts from Columbia University, New York in 2008, Su Yin’s works have been displayed in several solo and group exhibitions in Canada, China and the United States.

Su Yin was the youngest artist to hold a solo exhibition at the United Nations Headquarters.

Sound Of Ink won much acclaim with nearly 300 guests present at the opening reception.

Guests included  President S R Nathan as the Guest of Honour and Professor Tommy Koh, Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of NUS Master of Science, Environmental Management Advisory Committee.

Sound Of Ink featured 40 art pieces, out of which, nine new works were unveiled.

In addition, two of her paintings were auctioned to raise funds for the Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT-BAF), and the National University of Singapore (NUS) Master of Science degree programme on Environmental Management.
