Croat police seize fake perfums worth $1.2 million
by AFP|12 February 2012

Zagreb, Croatia: Croatian police have seized almost 46,000 bottles of counterfeit perfume, with a market value of 630,000 euros ($1.2 million), national television reported.

The perfumes, seized on the Bajakovo border crossing between Croatia and Serbia, were hidden in a truck with Turkish licence plates, according to police quoted in the report.

The consignment was headed for France.

The truck drivers had travelled from Turkey, across Bulgaria and Serbia, police said.

Croatia is on a Balkans route reputedly popular with criminals to smuggle drugs and people into western Europe.
