The recent Haiti earthquake has left more than 200,000 dead, 2 million homeless and 250,000 in need of urgent aid, especially the young, innocent Haitian children.
To answer this call, Esprit will host an international fundraising campaign, Help Haiti, on Saturday Jan 23, 2010 in Esprit retail stores in Singapore: for each purchase, Esprit will donate 1 USD to the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The total amount raised will go to the SOS Children's Villages Haiti via the "Esprit Cares Trust" in Hong Kong.
This will enable Esprit to assist aid workers on the ground and ensure the long-term well-being of children in Haiti, who have been mostly affected by their loss of homes and families.
Providing psychological help to children who may have been traumatised or orphaned is of particular importance, as is providing them with safe accommodation and searching for any remaining relatives.
Esprit has had 40 years worth of commitment towards addressing social and community issues, of which, primarily focus on children and teenagers and SOS Children's Villages has been an important partner for many years.
In 2008, together, they have built SOS Children's Village in Alibaug which is located in the south of Mumbai in India.
The construction and maintenance of this village is solely financed by Esprit.
