Saporiti Italia held its Design Awards which seeks to recognise the best in young Singaporean designers, as well as to promote cultural and creative exchange between the design communities in Singapore and Italy.
Open to young designers of Singapore, 15 finalists who represent the cream of the local design community were selected.
Held at Saporiti Italia's design emporium, industry specialists and enthusiasts attended the awards ceremony.
The winners of the Saporiti Design Award went to Ministry of Design.
Its winning design will be developed into an actual furniture piece with Saporiti Italia and will also be offered the possibility of signing an industrial production agreement for the manufacturing and distribution of its design.
Ministry of Design will also attend a design course at the Domus Academy, one of Italy’s most prestigious schools for postgraduate education programmes in design.
The two merit winners went to Lekker and Studio Juju.
They were rewarded with a design immersion trip to Italy to experience the innovative creativity that the Italian design culture is known for.
In addition to visiting the Saporiti Italia headquarters to understand the design, manufacturing, marketing and distribution process, these winners will also visit cultural, design and architectural landmarks in Milan.
