Gala awards for Asian Festival of First Films

The fifth Asian Festival of First Films held a gala awards night at Raffles Hotel.

First time film-makers were honoured at the awards night where top accolades went to Japan and India.

Japanese film, Looking For Anne, directed by Takako Miyahira, won the Best Film and Best Director. The film is a story of a 17-year-old Japanese girl on a secret mission to find her recently deceased grandmother's first love.

First time producer Sona Jain swept the awards night by winning in four categories: Best Screenplay, Best Producer, Best Actor and Best Actress for her film For Real. It is a story of a family seen through the eyes of a child.

Many of the first time nominees flew in the attend the gala awards night together with an international jury made up of acclaimed  personalities from the film industry.
