Art outreach programme debuts Malaysian artist
by Plush|12 February 2012

Malaysian director-turned-artist Hamir Soib launched his first solo exhibition in Singapore at the Ernst & Young gallery.

Art aficionados revelled at the provocative and surreal collection of 14 painting, titled Arrival, which is the fifth series of the Ernst & Young Asean art outreach programme.

Hamir Soib is well-known for his enigmatic paintings of overlapping human and animal forms and interplay of light and dark to portray his multi-faceted views on mankind and society.

In Arrival, Hamir's works border between good and evil.

The Ernst & Young art outreach programme was conceived by Ernst & Young to encourage budding artists and contribute back to society as part of the firm's corporate social responsibility.

Arrival exhibition will run in Ernst & Young's office at One Raffles Quay till March 1, 2010.

The paintings are for public viewing and are on sale. 20% of the proceeds will be donated to three charities - The Lion Befrienders Service Association (Singapore), the National Caner Research Fund and Clun Rainbow (Singapore).

The exhibition is open on Tuesday (12pm to 2pm) and Wednesdays (5pm to 7pm).

Visitors are encouraged to call +65 6535 7777 to register and make an appointment at least three days before visiting.
