The world's most expensive sari
by Patrick Jonas, tabla!|10 February 2010

It took two years and 45 weavers to make this sari.

And if you have fallen in love with it, let me tell you that it is already in the hands of a Mangalore businessman.

He paid a cool Rs 40 lakhs ($118,510) for this dazzling piece of work.

Vivagaa, the world's most expensive sari, was made by Chennai Silks in 2007, inspired by the works of Raja Ravi Varma and is dedicated to the Indian bride.

Ravi Varma's painting Lady Musicians, created in the 1800s, forms the core theme
of the sari, which sparkles with gold, diamonds, platinum, silver, rubies, emerald, yellow sapphire, sapphire, cat eye, topaz, coral and pearls.
