Luxury comes to Singapore in grand style
by Plush|04 September 2010

Luxury is certainly coming to town next week. You thought the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix was grand, well, Living in Style makes it even grander!

Living In Style – International 2009 is a week-long event from Sep 22 to 27 Sep, 2009, to be held at Keppel Island at Keppel Bay in conjunction with Singapore’s second Grand Prix season.

Filled with day-time conferences, food and beverage experiences and exhibitions, Plush is especially looking forward to the Style Ultime fashion collections and the gala evening events.

Here is a quick line-up for you:

22nd Sep (Tue) – 7pm, Cocktails & Gala Dinner at Main Pavilion, $500

Starting the week on a high note, Indian fashion designer, Rohit Bal, will show his collection at the Philanthropy I-India Gala Dinner.

Profiled by Time magazine as India’s “Master of Fabric and Fantasy”, Rohit is known for his meticulous attention to detail.

History, folklore and fantasy are the inspiration behind his creative masterpieces that are desired by discerning aficionados globally.

His achievements include a dedicated space at the prestigious Saks Fifth Avenue in Dubai, a presence at London Fashion Week and a creative partnership with international shoe designer Christian Louboutin.

Fashion aside, music connoisseurs will appreciate that the T’ang Quartet will perform with some priceless Stradivarius violins that evening.

22nd, 24th & 25th Sep (Tue, Thu & Fri) - Free, with the $88 LIS Entrance Ticket

For those into their sun worshipping, Silvian Imberg is on top of his game with his forte for exotic beachwear and leisure couture.

The 2010 collection is shaped by a distinctive aesthetic that stretches the boundaries of swimwear design using cutting edge techniques and fabrics.

Inspired by art, theatre, architecture, nature and urban landscape, these all are translated into fabrics, patterns and colour combinations that are uniquely his.

23rd & 24th Sep (Wed & Thu) – Free, with the $88 LIS Entrance Ticket

Jewellery lovers will not be left out at the Style Ultime.

Look forward to the avant-garde jewellery collections of Bibi van der Velden. Her collections have had a pride of place at exhibitions at the National Museum of Antiquities at Leiden (Netherlands) and at Sotheby’s in Amsterdam.

Using her knowledge as a sculptor to mould her designs into wearable works of art, the result is original pieces that blur the lines between jewellery and art.

26th Sep (Sat) – 7.30pm, Cocktails & Gala Dinner at the Main Pavilion, $600

Another exquisite evening is the Johnny Walker Blue Label Gala Dinner prepared by L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon. Two individual showcases featuring both prêt-a-porter and haute couture will be presented.

Opening the evening will be the highlights from Soleil by Jean-Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel and Vivienne Tam.

Culminating the fashion line-up with a glorious finish is Khaled Couture who has shown regularly at Paris Couture Week.

Beirut-based and a graduate of the Milan fashion scene, Khaled Masri is the only Lebanese designer with clothes in the Musée de la Mode in Paris, where his creations hang next to those from Christian Dior and Chanel.

Widely featured in international fashion magazines, he has a following of the Gulf Arab elite.

His gowns are inspired by his love of the Orient, and are, as he describes, “modern and contemporary, but always rooted in tradition.”

He fuses bold shapes and fabrics with traditional designs, creating elegant forms with daring colour and fabric combinations.

26th Sep (Sat) – 2pm at Main Pavilion, $100 (adult) & $50 (child)

And there's something for the kids too!

Making its debut, Glitterateen will be launching its new chic easy to wear collection for young trendy fashionistas aged between 7-16 at the inaugural Living In Style event.

With the parent company Glitterati, well known for their signature sumptuous gowns and dresses for a select group of well-heeled customers, this will become the ultimate destination for glamour and fashion for mother and daughters to shop under one roof in a luxe environment.

The American girl band, Girlicious, will also perform and finish with a meet-and-greet session.

Entry tickets are available to the public at www.tdc.sg.
