Ever thought about having a party venue that moved around where the crowd went? A place that is always in the thick of exciting environments and is always the most happening place to be?
Well, three people have thought of this - Alexander Hascher, Gerhard Lanyi and Markus Krill. They have come up with a mobile entertainment venue and conceptualised it in AQUA by GRANDSTAND, the first of its kind and the latest entrant to Singapore's nightlife scene.
Constructed within the dimensions of shipping containers, Aqua unfolds and transforms into a novel, nautical-themed entertainment venue, complete with overhead sails to keep out the weather whilst doubling up as projector screens. The three-storey venue packs seamlessly into three containers for easy storage and transportation. And all this can be done within 24 hours.
AQUA by GRANDSTAND is created using only the highest quality materials namely cotton steel and merbau wood. The three containers unfold into a fully self-contained bar.
The Experience
AQUA offers three levels of entertainment:
• The Lower Deck forms the foundation of AQUA which comprises three extendable bars. The lower deck is an invitation to indulge in premium spirits and the finest selection of red and white wines, accompanied with delectable sweet and savoury French crepes.
We had the opportunity to try savoury crepes made of beef and mushroom with hollandaise sauce and chicken with blue cheese and asparagus. The sweet crepe we tried had Nutella chocolate with raspberries in it.
The cocktails that we sampled were kumquat squash made with triple malt whiskey, a watermelon cooler and lychee and rose martini. We must say that the drinks and food on offer made the AQUA experience a whole lot more indulgent; they were truly satisfying to the taste buds.
• The Upper Deck caters to VIPs, which offers exquisite food and champagne alongside a spectacular view of Singapore's waterfront since it is currently located at Merchant Loop, overlooking the Singapore River and Clarke Quay.
• The Top Deck also known as the stage comes complete with overhead sails that can double up as projection screens. The top deck serves as a platform for showcasing visual imageries, live DJ acts, live band performances and fashion parades.
The Structure
Measuring a total of 12.8m in length including the overhead sails and a height of 9.2m, AQUA can accommodate up to 300 persons. The lower deck accommodates up to 200 guests, the upper deck holds up to 85 guests and the top deck holds up to 15 guests only.
And since it is a mobile venue, that makes it available for rent. The rental rates depend on the event requirements, logistics, capacity, date, time and duration of the function; corporate and group bookings are handled on a case by case basis.
This interesting concept and unique look is made complete with its global launch at the Singapore River Festival until November 2008 before it floats to another iconic destination.
Stemming from the most exciting metropolis in all of South East Asia, AQUA aims to provide a brand new dimension for both the local and international bar and corporate hospitality scene.
Singapore is the headquarters for GRANDSTAND and following the launch of AQUA here, the next stop through franchising will be in Sydney, Australia in December 2008, followed by Berlin and or Munich, Germany and Vienna, Austria in April 2009.
Operating hours at AQUA is from 5pm to 2am daily.
