World's most extravagant party at the Palms, Dubai
by Luxury-Insider.com|18 September 2008

Luxury must come with a statement, and this is the statement that Sol Kerzner, the South African hotel and gambling magnate, is making as he opens the doors to his new Dubai resort.

The 1,500 room Atlantis Hotel on the man-made island of Palm Jumeirah will be launched with a show unlike anything seen before.

The US$1.5 billion Atlantis, which features 16 restaurants including a branch of Nobu and is partially financed by the Dubai Royal Family, will launch with an extravagant party fit for a King indeed.

The biggest fireworks show from the pyrotechnic team behind the Olympics fireworks show is rumoured to be ten times bigger than the one seen in Beijing, covering all 43km of the development. Organisers claim that the show will be visible from space.

Singer Kylie Minogue will also perform at the gala party in what would be her first concert in the Middle East.

Two thousand VIP guests will have the honour of attending this extravaganza. As we speak, invitation cards studded with hundreds of pounds worth of Swarovski crystals have already been sent out. The four-day beachside celebration is estimated to cost US$25 million, with US$4.4 million of that going to Ms. Minogue.
