A taste of the exclusive life
by Simi Antoinette, PlushAsia|17 September 2008

Your Plush mistress has literally tasted the exclusive life and she loves it!

We were invited to experience Dragon Blaze's "exclusive world" in the guise of a six-course dinner on Singapore's largest superyacht, the Moecca. The dinner was hosted by Dari Levy, Dragon Blaze's executive director and Rubicon Reserve Wine's director, David Coleman.

Our ascent onto the expansive main deck of the magnificant craft was made effortless by sparkling flutes of Armand De Brignac, one of the most exquisite champagnes in the world.

David and Chef Rob presented the evening's menu as the Moecca peeled away from the One Degree 15 Marina. Against a backdrop of receding city lights, Rob introduced us to the entree of beetroot, two starters of shaved beef carpaccio and scallops three-ways, the main dish of black pork tasting and confit belly and dessert of honey infused panna cotta with peaches two-ways.

David took delight in sharing with us his choice of wine pairings and we were introduced to six types of wine that were matched perfectly with the meals. My favourite was the Three Miners Gewurtzminer 2006 from Central Otago, New Zealand, which went very well with the scallops.

Here is the list of the pairings for your reference:

  • The canapes of oysters, strawberries and soup were served with Armand De Brignac champagne.
  • The beetroot was served with Atticus Chardonnay 2003 from Margaret River, Western Australia.
  • The shaved beef carpaccio with truffles mushroom ragout was served with Vynfields Pinot Noir 2004 from Martinborough, New Zealand.
  • The scallops three-ways was served with Three Miners Gewurtzminer 2006 from Central Otago, New Zealand.
  • The black pork tasting and confit belly was served with Tinazzi Opera Numero 3 from Veneto, Italy.
  • The panna cotta was served with Astrolabe Noble Riesling from Marlborough, New Zealand.

We explored the other decks of the yacht after dinner.

The second level consisted of a series of rooms - from fully-equipped studies to luxurious bedrooms complete with en-suite bathrooms. "Why get a house when you can live on a yacht?" your Plush Mistress thought to herself as she surveyed the fine wood and leather furnishings.

We visited the outer deck where the jet ski and life raft were stowed. The area can apparently double up as a mini gym - looking out into the ocean while working out certainly sounds delightful.

Dragon Blaze has crafted an experience that is truly exclusive and unforgettable - one that your Plush Mistress will be talking about for a long time to come!
