Tourbillon made with parts from Titanic
by Sharan Kaur, PlushAsia|03 September 2008

Designed as a tribute to the major oceans of the world, this collection is a collaboration between Yvan Arpa, CEO of Romain Jerome and Jean Francois Ruchonnet, the creator of the revolutionary Cabestan vertical tourbillon.

To be manually wound, the Cabestan tourbillon employs a vertically set movement rather than the more traditional horizontal approach, giving the watch its unique look.

You might be transfixed on the intricate movements of the mechanisms that can be seen through the transparent outer casing of the watch.

If you look long enough, you might even be able to draw parallels with the design and construction of great ships from more than a thousand years ago.

The collection is available in six different versions: Pacifique, Artique, Atlantique, Indien, Austral - named after the five major oceans. The sixth is named 41° 43’ 55’’ N, 49° 56’ 45’’ W, which is the exact geographical coordinates of the Titanic ship wreck.
