Italian furniture legend in Singapore now
by Roshni Lakhiani, PlushAsia|29 August 2008

Living in style - that is what the renowned Italian furniture guru Saporiti Italia aims to bring to Singapore.

Their new showroom, the first ever in the South East Asia hub, recently opened in Singapore on Lower Delta Road, occupying three full blocks of the Cendex Centre.

Mr Raffaele Saporiti, Chief Executive Officer of Saporiti Italia, said, "Singapore has become a wealth centre for Asia, a place where high design has been sought after.

"We feel that the timing is right to introduce ourselves to customers who appreciate the quality and form that have epitomised the Saporiti name."

Designed by famous Milan architects Park Associati, the showroom offers a range of furniture from the avant garde to the elegant and stylish for those interested in creating their own dynamic living space.

Saporiti has created furniture on a grand scale, with displays of their work in some of the most important design and contemporary art museums in the world, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

However, what Saporiti is known for is their ability to cater personally to their customers' taste by constructing customised furniture for their clientele.

Their array of work comprises of celebrity residences, cruise lines, airport lounges, and other projects such as the Fortis Bank in Luxemburg and the Chloé shops and showrooms worldwide.

More than just a furnishing company, their portfolio also includes important turn-key residences and public organisations in the world such as the luxurious Hotel Noga Hilton in Cannes, the charming The Arch in Hong Kong, the upright Lexus Tower in Dubai and even the UN headquarters in Geneva.

Whether public organisations or private residences, creativity is the key in their design as they often use innovative materials and technologies like optical fiber lights to give your home an artistic touch.

The uber-chic Saporiti Singapore showroom has been constructed in a creative atypical fashion. It is conceptually divided into three areas:

  • The 'Home' area displays the best-sellers of the Saporiti Italia collections over the past five decades.

  • The 'Office' space offers a professional and efficient point of assistance and a library of innovative materials and design solutions to designers in Singapore and the rest of the South East Asia region.

  • The 'Kitchen & Bar' corner showcases Saporiti's aptitude of custom-design furniture.

A key highlight of the showroom is the orange 'dome' (pictured below), which characterises the deconstructive nature of Saporiti's designs. This construction took 1,800 hours and is made up of over 350 components.

The showroom ceiling is covered with 'deconstructed white plaques' artfully hiding messy wiring and air conditioning systems.

Looking to work with the Singapore architecture community, Mr Saporiti said, "We are not simply offering the highest quality furniture, we are here to support the Singapore design community and clients to create with us unique lifestyle concepts. This is why we have in our showroom a design centre directly linked with our design-HUB in Milan."

The showroom is open Mondays to Fridays 9am-6pm. Showroom visits on weekends are by appointment only.
