Singapore GP, in partnership with New Asia, invites all Singaporeans and Singapore residents aged 18 and above to put their mixology skills to the test and submit a winning formula for the inaugural Designer Cocktail Contest.
This is the first time in Singapore that a cocktail contest is open to participation from both amateurs and professionals.
The winning concoction will be served as the official cocktail and mocktail of the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX and will be served to over 10,000 guests each day at the exclusive Paddock Club and corporate hospitality suites.
Participants are required to submit an original cocktail and/or mocktail recipe, an original name and a photograph of their creation, by logging on to www.singaporegp.sg.
But be quick, the deadline is on August 7, 2010.
Entrants will be judged on the presentation of their cocktail, name, visual appeal, aroma, taste, as well as utilisation of ingredients and garnishes.
Ten finalists will be invited to New Asia at Swissotel The Stamford on Saturday, Aug 28, 2010, to prepare their drinks in front of a panel of Food & Beverage experts from Singapore GP, New Asia and key industry partners.
Details about the judging and final will be available nearer to the event.
Prizes for the winning recipes are worth over $14,000 in total and include coveted items like three-day passes to the Green Room at the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX.
Three-day hospitality passes for the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX are priced from $3,500 for the Green Room to $8,000 for the Formula One Paddock ClubTM ticket.
“We are proud to offer a world-class Formula One experience for the Paddock Club and Corporate Suite guests and are always looking for opportunities to take it up a notch.” said Darren Chen, Director of Corporate Sales, Singapore GP.
This year, in addition to first-class service from the suite ambassadors, all-day entertainment, and breathtaking views of the racetrack, corporate customers can also revel in a revamped menu from leading 5-star hotels and dining establishments, a more extensive wine list, increased customisation options and improved accessibility to the racetrack.
For amateurs looking to participate in a cocktail contest for the first time, Richard Gillam, Beverage Manager, Swissotel The Stamford, shares some words of advice, “The key to a great cocktail is balance. The sweet and sour, the strong and weak. Everybody will appreciate a well-balanced cocktail, even if the flavour is not to his or her taste.
"Also, you have to serve the correct cocktail at the right time, to the right guest. A great cocktail can be the crowning element to a great experience if done well but always remember never to take it too seriously.”
